To live an organic lifestyle, we need to reach far beyond the foods that we eat. Just as much damage is being done to the planet by growing fibers for clothing. Non-organic cotton occupies less than 3% of the world’s farmland but in terms of chemical pesticides it accounts for nearly 25% of their use.

Organic women’s clothing is a way to take a step in the right direction. You won’t sacrifice quality or comfort when you purchase organically grown products, in fact you’ll probably find that the opposite is true. One of the most important and widely used textiles in women’s clothing is cotton. Organically grown cotton produces longer fibers making it far more durable than the non-organic type. The fiber is also highly breathable making your organic women’s clothing cool and comfortable.
There are other products that can be used in the making of organic women’s clothing. Both hemp and bamboo are very popular choices. Hemp and bamboo are highly durable plants. They are naturally resistant to insects completely negating the use for chemical pesticides. They are also long lasting and can used for virtually anything. The most important factor is they are naturally grown reducing your exposure to harmful chemicals that could produce long term damage.
Looking great is possible without damaging your health or causing further damage to the planet. Consider purchasing organic women’s clothing. You’ll look great, feel great and we’ll all be healthier for it.

Well, i has only been a few days afer Christmas, and I find myself going over how well I did on the shopping this year. With the economy being the way it has been, I found the malls more packed than ever before with people looking for a bargain. Sure, there were some good deals, but to me, the crowds, and driving just don’t make up for all the time and hassle it takes. When I think about the gifts we did get this year for our daughter, I realize that all but one were bought online. With everyone offering free shipping, why not?! Honestly I do not want to put my little girl in and out of the car all day to see what the stores have, or don’t have. Just going online while she takes her nap is nice and easy. If they have it, great! If not, no problem, just look for that item on another website. It leaves me with more quality time with her at the park, the bookstore, and just having fun with her.
Even my after christmas sales, I almost went out to get one item at the store. Then just as I was about to go, I realized, I don’t want to fight other people for one item. I jumped on the computer, found it, bought it, and then enjoyed a great breakfast with my family. No stress, just relaxing and spending time with the people I love. Oh, how I love to shop online! Have a great and happy New Year everyone!

I often find myself talking with other moms, dads, and even family relatives about the food we eat. I consider myself a visual person. So, when I go food shopping, I like to know where the food came from, how it was produced, what machines made the food I’m eating, or feeding my child. With that always running in my mind, I choose food as wisely as I can. Eating organic isn’t just because it’s a green thing to do. Of course it’s better for the earth, but more importantly, it’s better for our bodies. The best thing we can do is grow our own organic food. And so this is what I find myself talking about most of the time. I guess you can say it’s my passion, along with natural childbirth. I won’t go on that subject right now, but it does tie in with making a wise health choice for you and your baby. Unlike my family, I find it hard to eat out at most places. I know that everything I put into my body should be something that it can use, and that it needs to thrive and work well. Food is a wonderful thing, I love to cook, and eat. But, it must have a purpose other than to fill my stomach. What vitamins are going into those cells that need it, how can I make sure everything I eat, is for the better. Often I get into this conversations, and have wonderful feedback from everyone. But, once in awhile, I get the void look. As if I have stepped over the line, and they do not want to go there. Which I’m fine with, but I truely and honestly believe, if we were to look at food in the way of how it will benefit my body, and not just my stomach, we will feel so much better. Taking great care of our bodies by eating well, wearing clean, organic clothing, drinking lots of clean, purified water, and exercising will turn your life around for the better. As a mom, I have to make the best choices I can for my baby. That also includes taking care of me as well, so I can be around for her. Organic isn’t just a fad, or a cool thing to do right now. It is the natural, easy, and healthiest thing to do from inside and out.

So, I find myself hearing people talking about going green almost everywhere I go these days. From the supermarkets, to the mall. I have always believed in taking care of the earth, while we take care of ourselves, and honestly, it’s not that hard. TV ads everywhere about solar power for our homes, lightbulbs that save energy. It’s true what they are saying, small things make a HUGE difference. One of them that make a true difference in just us buying one thing would be buying green or organic apparel. This could range from shirts, pants, even underwear. See, when buying organic clothing, you are doing more than just changing a lightbulb. You are providing the organic farmers money to keep their crops going, without the use of pesticides. A huge factor in pollution. From there you are wearing clothes that not only are good for your skin, but your entire body as well. Our skin is our largest organ, and I know most people never think of it, but it needs to be protected as well from chemicals. So, if you eat healthy by eating organic, putting organic clothing on, will also benefit you as well. If you eat organic already, you are adding to going green even more. So honestly speaking, this going green as they call it now, is just going back to the basics. Before we as people tried to make things easier, which just made them harder. Going green has never been simpler. Eat green, wear green, simple as that.

With October behind us, the holiday season begins. This year especially seems to be different then years past. Christmas decor has been on the store shelves during Halloween. All the wrapping paper, Christmas lights, wreaths, has gotten me into the season early.
Knowing the season is right around the corner, I must start checking off my list now. The person I love the most is the hardest to buy for. He loves gagets, as men do. Problem is, I never know which ones exactly he wants, and if I do, I know they are not in my price range. So, what do most husbands need according to their wives? Good looking clothes of course. With the economy being the way that is has been for the past year, I need a deal. Free shipping is my idea of shopping on the internet. If I can get that, I can buy all my husbands wardrobe in as little as 20 minutes, and have it shipped. No lines, no wrong prices, no getting my baby in and out of the car a million times to find the right thing. Click, and it’s done. I went on my favorite site for me, and found some really nice shirts for him. He loves graphic T’s, and staying in style as much as possible. And what do you know, they have great organic mens graphic t’s! I was thrilled, so I bought 4 shirts for him. Which he should be happy about. I love that they are organic, he’ll love that they are cool with graphics on them, and I’m also thrilled I won’t have to go out and find them. I almost forgot the site I love for me, and now him, is the organicclothingboutique.com They are a cool store with everything organic, and free shipping! NO minimums! Can’t beat that. Happy shopping everyone! Let the holidays begin!

The other day as I was about to go on my daily walk with my daughter, but was having a hard time finding something to wear for this walk. I have a few good work out clothes, but nothing is more comfortable to me than my black cami. Great support, easy to move around in, looks good with shorts, or pants, and won’t be clinging to my arms during or after the walk. Now, I cannot be the only mom out there who is picky about what tops to wear. But, after having my daughter 10 months ago, I cannot just put on any cami. It needs three things, support, but not too much, form fitting, but not where it would ride up as I walk, and a great length, but not a dress. With those in mind, I had to choose wisely. What I used to wear before having her, and what I need to wear now, are different. I used to be able to wear all those cute form fitting, tight cami’s. But, today, I need a cami to fit me in a specific way. Which made me think of a great cami I got as a mommy gift. It’s made of organic cotton, great shape, and support. My girlfriend knows I have great health on the top of my list, and for my family. So, she choose this ultra soft, supportive, but not too supportive cami for after I had my little girl. It is my favorite! I can just throw a jacket on if I need too, or just wear it as is. Which is mainly my use for it.T he thing is, this organic cotton cami can be worn for everything, including my daily four mile walks. It washes great, another plus for mommies, and is just so darn comfy! In the end, I put my organic black cami on, put my little girl in her stroller and started off on my walk. Next thing I had to do, is buy me another cami, this time, just to sleep in.

When I used to think about organic shirts, or T’s, I never thought of them as hip, and fun. When I was a child, my mother and I would go to this tiny shop on the busiest road in NJ. The tiny shop sold nothing but organic clothing, shirts mainly. Everything was in a light tan color, everything. Not one item in that store was colorful, and at the time I guess that was expected. Now, flash forward 20 years ahead, and you can find amazingly hip, brightly colorful organic cotton shirts. This is what I was looking for 20 years earlier. From organic graphic T’s, to organic colorful solid shirts, nevermind different necklines. Finally, you can be aware of what you put on your body, and look great at the same time. Now, if only I had such a selection when I was a teenager, maybe life would have been easier in school.

I’ll be honest right from the start, I was NOT in any way wanting to cloth diaper my baby. The idea of cleaning a cloth diaper was not something I could see myself doing. Then I researched what was going to be on my baby girls skin the moment she was out of me. Organic cloth diapers were about to make their way into my home, and on my baby girls bottom.
Chemicals, toxic, harmful chemicals are loaded into these great, easy disposable diapers. What a shock it was to me. I thought maybe some would be in there, but nothing like I found.
To start, Dioxin, it is a byproduct of bleaching with chlorine to get those diapers nice and white. The downside, it causes liver disease, immune system suppression, and genetic damage.
Sodium Polyacrylate, sound familiar to us women? It was linked to TSS in our tampons. If you have ever changed a diaper before and found round clear like balls on the baby’s bottom, that would be this toxic chemical.
Urinary track infections in baby girls, of which a girlfriend of mine had that problem 3 times with her baby girl, then found out it was from her diapers.
There are more and more chemicals I can list. After just reading one of them, I made the decision to use cloth on my girl. I checked out how to use organic cloth diapers, which turned out to be A LOT easier than what I thought, and found the right system for my family. It’s so easy, even my husband doesn’t mind changing her diapers. They are safe, super easy to use, cute as can be, and they save us a lot of money.
